Project Blog Week One: Vote For Your Favorite!

by Allison

Update: Voting remains open until Tuesday at noon! However, comments are now closed, and the winner of the Ecoist bracelet will be emailed today! For a chance to win this week’s prize, head to the latest contest post HERE!

The blogtestant entries are beginning to roll in, so that means it is time to vote for your favorite! The reader poll counts for 5 points in the overall score. First place gets 3 points, second place 2, and third place 1. Each judge also gets 5 points to distribute as they want, and the person with the overall highest score WINS! So, your votes could determine the winner this week and the blogger who gets immunity in next week’s competition.

In this week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to give us a post that sums up themselves, their blog, and why they write. If you played along, don’t forget to send me your link!

The blogtestants:

1. Kate, Babylune: “The Blog I Write and the Woman Who Writes It”
2. Randi, Brad Pitt Watch: “The First Challenge”
3. Jodie, Gossip on Sports: “Project Blog: Week One Challenge”
4. Cynthia, TV of the Absurd: “The Five TV Shows that Changed My Life”
5. Winnie, Watching the View: “Project Blog: Why I Blog the View”
6. Sally, Style Fix: “The Fashionable Child Who Writes Becomes the Fashion Writer”
7. Kara, Colorado Review: “Why I Blog About Colorado Travel”
8. Mark, Get Incensed: “Project Blog. Bravo”

Blogtestants are listed above by time of post and below by the date they joined Project Blog (in the future it will be determined by their previous week’s points). They have until Friday at 8 AM to post! If you came here from one of their sites, I encourage you to check out the other entries before voting. You can vote once every 24 hours, and the polls officially close Tuesday at noon! Happy voting!

VOTING IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED!
Week One Voting Results:

Winnie came in first place with 45% of the vote and a whopping 83 votes. She’ll get 3 additional points this week in the overall score.

Sally came in second place with 18% of the vote and 34 votes. She’ll get 2 additional points this week in the overall score.

Kate came in third place with 13% of the vote and 24 votes. She’ll get 1 additional point this week in the overall score

Jodie
had 11% of the vote with 20 votes.

AND DON’T FORGET: After you vote, leave a comment here telling everyone who you’re voting for and why (it can be anonymous). Use a valid email address, because leaving a comment will put you in the running to win an Ecoist bracelet! 1. Vale Says:

I voted for Kate (Babylune), because I simply enjoy reading her posts!

  2. Randi Says:

Are we allowed to vote for ourselves?! LOL

  3. Stacy Says:

So far I have voted for Kate. I read the entries that were updated as of 4:40pm EST on Thursday. Since I saw I could vote once every 24 hrs., I may vote for another writer if they impress me more than Kate’s when they’re all up.

I voted for Kate because I felt she had the best reason to blog. She’s using her experience with motherhood to help others who might feel lonely and anxious in the same experience. Alot of people with no one can always turn to the internet and find someone like Kate. Her blog is not a journal or for free perks for herself - it’s to help others. I don’t think I’d ever read her site until I had a child, but it’s nice to know there are sites like Kate’s out there. Keep it up Kate!

  4. Kate Says:

Randy- I really liked your post, but I still voted for myself. Remember the movie “Election”? It haunts me.

  6. The Snarkstress Says:

I voted for Jodie because she is one of the most fabby writers out there and because we are pure, unadulterated Sisters in Snark. She’s a total dahling, and she deserves the vote of the people.

AND I voted because that bracelet would look most marvy on moi.

What? It would. So sue me.

  7. Stacee Says:

I voted for Winnie because I could totally connect with her in her feelings regarding The View and why she blogs about it. She’s such a fantastic writer!

    Go Winnie!

  8. Peaches Says:

I am also voting for Winnie’s blog on The View because she has created a truly unique community for Rosie fans and View fans to come together, sometimes lock horns, but never disintegrate into crazy, pointless, nasty potshots like you see on so many websites. I think it is a tribute to Winnie’s tone in her blog postings that she has been able to draw such a community to her. Her postings are incredibly detailed and thorough—not an easy task when trying to recap the dizzying topics discussed by a panel of ladies who often talk over one another. Winnie also has a style that is personal but neutral, and yet injects a few wry observations that pose questions of her readers rather than tell them the answers. And she keeps the site lively and fun by updating it constantly with news flashes and archival photos and footage of the panelists from their early career days to the present. It is really so much more than a mere celebrity or TV show site. It’s a forum for civilized yet spirited discussions of hot topics from the show and from life.

  9. anon Says:

I voted Winnie all the way because she does such a great job keeping up with all that is going on with her show.

“Are we allowed to vote for ourselves?! LOL”

    Yes. But only three times.

    … one! ….

  12. DN Says:

Interesting blogs. I have visited two of the group. I voted for Winnie’s as I too loved the Rosie show and used it as an escape at a time when my mother was fighting a losing battle with cancer. When Rosie accepted BW’s offer I was tickled and then it was over:(. Winnie is giving us a glimpse of a show that was “once” a lifeline.

  13. Carol Says:

I voted for Jodie because she is my daughter and I naturally want her to win. I think she does a great job, her sports blogs are funny and I enjoy keeping up with my beloved NE teams. I wouldn’t mind winning that bracelet either!

Keep that torch burning for Jodie!

  17. Sherri Shepherd Says:

I actually voted for Winnie’s “Watching The View”, although I may be a little biased because I work on the show. I don’t read any of the other blogs about my show, but I do agree with the other poster (of whom dislikes me -but that’s another matter for another day (smile)), that Winnie’s recaps are pretty neutral and she asks questions that spark a pretty lively discussion (even though a lot of the behind the scene assumptions are incorrect - (smile)). I like going to Winnie’s blogs because it gives me a recap of what happened during the show. When it’s done live, it’s hard to remember what actually happened - like getting married and the reception… what bride really remembers that day. It’s nice to see what others think of the show. Thanks Winnie

  19. The Bee Says:

I’m voting for Jodie, because she is the wittiest word master of the group. She knows how to mix words of wisdom and smart-alecky remarks to make you sit up and take notice and laugh. Keep the snark going, Jodster (ha-ha).

  20. Randi Says:

Ack! I’m far behind - am I going to have to start pimping myself out?! LOL

  21. Gloria Says:

i voted for Kate of Babylune. simply because i have been a fan of hers and her blog for a long time. :-)

  22. kiki Says:

    Great spunk too!

  24. Kate Says:

So are Dana and Zem out for missing the deadline?

  25. Robin Says:

  28. rainlillie Says:

I voted for Winnie, because she provides a great service for those of us who don’t have the time or the will to sit through an hour of The View. Her recaps are very detailed and informative. I really enjoy her site and she gives us a very unbiased look at the View and it’s hosts. She also keeps us up to date on the past hosts of the show.

  29. Sandy Says:

I am voting for Winnie because I love her recaps of the View, and her blog. Her blog and it’s commenter’s also provide a diversity of learning and fun.

  30. Mary O Says:

I voted for Winnie because I love and read her blog. I only came back to watching the view when Rosie came on, and I used to enjoy comparing notes (so to speak) with what Winnie had to say about the show. Since Rosie left, I hardly ever watch the View, but I do enjoy reading Winnie’s recaps.

  31. Doug Robertson Says:
