Kathy Griffin versus Jesus
Ok, Ok, everyone’s talking about it, so I can’t let it slip by without mentioning it. Apparently Kathy Griffin is the devil incarnate…or at least spreading “messages of hate.” Why the backlash? It has to do with her Emmy award and acceptance speech.
Last year she lost out to Extreme Home Makeover and while they took the stage, she flicked them off, told them to “suck her dick”, and stormed out of the auditorium, high-fiving ushers along the way.
I bet her publicist wishes it were last year.
This year, Kathy won! She totally deserves it, as “My Life on the D-List” is an amazing show, and this season was by far the best. Her speech?
“Can you believe this shit? I guess hell froze over. … a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. So, all I can say is, ’suck it, Jesus.’ This award is my god now.”
Oh come on, people. It’s funny. That’s not anti-religious hate messages. It’s her brand of shock-value humor. If you’d watch the show, you’d know that. Kathy isn’t about hating Christianity or spreading an atheistic message all over the world. She’s about doing whatever she can to get the media’s attention…which she seems to have done quite brilliantly.
The real question here is how many of you journalists out there would have mentioned Kathy Griffin today had she thanked Jesus and walked offstage?

As any of her true fans know, Kathy had a rough year. And I mean rough. So an EMMY to top it off is FANTASTIC. She (and her people) totally deserve it! I love how what she said was HILARIOUS to those who watch the show, b/c we know its humor behind it, and have seen her raw emotion on camera. And really, who cares? She is an Emmy winner after all..and I’m pretty sure they don’t just “take it back” if somebody hates the acceptance speech.
Congrats Kathy and keep doing what you do!

I love Kathy Griffin. I think she’s hilarious. If you’ve seen the show ever, you know this is her brand of humor.

i personally think as a Christian it was uncalled for her to to say that Jesus should suck it and that the trophy is her god….and i don’t agree on that being humorous either because it is stated in the first commandment that we are to worship and praise god alone… and i think that she should have respected our religion….this comment was not meant to offend other people who liked the idea of her so called humorous side comment its just an 11 yr old girl’s opinion

I had been a Kathy Griffin fan for years, but her Jesus speech put paid to that. She will do anything for attention, or to get her name out there. Hey, she had a rough year? I dare her to go out in public and say something like that about Muhammad.
