Inside the Blogger’s Studio: FictionScribe.com
Reality on Bravo is proud to present Inside the Blogger’s Studio–a spin on Inside the Actor’s Studio, specifically for bloggers. Here, we’ll talk about the journey each blogger has taken to get where they are today, hopefully to inspire others to blog their hearts out.
Today’s guest has a passion for fiction writing. She’s a published author and although she doesn’t “consider herself an expert”, her blog, www.fictionscribe.com, is gaining more and more popularity in the blogging world. Welcome, JM.
RoB: How did you get into blogging in the beginning?
JM:I’d been into journaling since I was very young. In college, I came across Blogger by accident and thought it would be cool to have my own personal journal space online.
What other blogging experiences have you had?
I have experience in personal blogging, group blogging (both participating in and running a group blog), professional blogging, and looking for blogging jobs. All of it has been a fairly good experience.
Have you had any negative experiences blogging? How has that helped you grow?
How has that helped you grow? I have had people “hunt me down” with my blogs and then use my personal thoughts and feelings against me. Those experiences taught me the value of pen names and anonymity. It’s also helped me to hone my search skills.
What projects do you have planned for blog in the future?
What projects do you have planned for blogging in the future?
I’ve just recently starting hosting my own blog – a weight loss diary of sorts. I’m looking to get the hang of that a bit more and perhaps start a few other sites. Currently I’m casually looking for more work out in the blogsphere.
What are some of your favorite posts from the past?
Eight Ways to Kill Your Characters is definitely one of my favorites. Top ten, eight, three, whatever lists are quick and to the point, which I like. Pair that with a twisted subject like killing and you have a winner.
And now, here are the 10 questions compiled by Bernard Pivot, made famous by James Lipton, and modified for the blogging world
1. What is your favorite word?
Serenity
2. What is your least favorite word?
Booger
3. What kinds of readers turn you on?
Not sure…
4. What kinds of readers turn you off?
Anyone close-minded or argumentative for the sake of being arguementative
5. What is your favorite curse word?
Fsck
6. What blogging responsibility do you love?
Deadlines
7. What blogging responsibility do you hate?
Deadlines
9. What blog subject other than your own would you like to write about?
Being new in Australia
9. What blog subject would you not like to write about?
Math
10. If the leader in your field was to read your blog, what would like to hear him/her say?
A thoughtful comment both pointing out the positives and areas needing improvement in the blog.
What advice would you give to someone interested in blogging?
Start with a personal blog. Don’t go in for being professional right away. Set up a personal blog and commit to doing a post every day. Find out what you like, what you don’t like. Experiment in a place being fired isn’t an issue.
Thanks, JM!
