Goodbye Ryan
Socio-political, my ass.

On last night’s episode of Top Design, Ryan was the designer asked to leave. During the white room judging, he said that he would have never taken on this assignment and that his choice would have been to throw away a lot of the clients’ belongings and make a socio-political statement. (huh? getting rid of crap does not constitute a socio-political statement…).
The judges have had poor Ryan on the chopping block for weeks now, so everyone pretty much agreed that it was his time to go…even Ryan himself. During the exit interview, he said,
“At this point, I’m happy with tipping my hat and walking away from things. No regrets.”
Personally, I wish Ryan would not have been made into some kind of evil underdog. I think that he had a lot to bring to the table that no one really recognized or encouraged. That’s a real shame.
In other news, the episode itself was very revealing about some of the characters:
Andrea is one of my favorites to win. She treats everything professionally and with full effort.
Goil is the most good-hearted person I have ever seen on a reality show. He’s in it to win, but without stepping on other people to get there.
Michael places blame on others a lot. Sometimes he’s justified in doing so, but he comes off as being whine-y all the time.
Matt needs to be more confident. Every interview with him is like watching a timid mouse afraid of going home.
Erik simply needs to be in the store more. I always forget that he’s a contestant! If this show was based on viewer votes, he would be gone already, simple because he hasn’t done anything memorable since the pirate ship.
Lastly, Carissa is a pain in the ass, loud mouth. I really do believe that she was working her hardest during this last event, but she’s a student and pretty full of herself. She always has to be heard, even when someone else is speaking. I just feel like punching her, bc she gets so annoying. However, I wonder how much of that is due to creative editing…
