Carson Kressley: How to Look Good Naked

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Recently, Carson Kressley, of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame gave a little chat about one of the most important subjects in fashion: How to look good naked. I guess he feels as though there are too many ugly, naked people out there.

Ok, Ok, these pictures of his little talk actually have to do with him promoting a new show, How to Look Good Naked, which premiers tonight on the Lifetime channel at 9 PM. The Fab Five may be going their separate ways, but they aren’t dropping off the face of the earth.

Most Fabulous Bravo Personalities: #7 - Ted Allen

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

As part of the NaBloPoMo celebration, I’m posting my list of top 30 Most Fabulous Bravo Personalities. The points of qualification? Only one: be utterly fabulous. “Fabulous can mean intriguing, funny, hot, crazy…or all of the above. Stop back every day during November to see if you favorite star has made the list!

Today’s Fabulous #8 is Ted Allen, the culinary member of the Fab Five and a judge on Top Chef.

ted.jpg

Why is Ted fabulous? Ted Allen is freakin’ amazing. He’s one of the few Bravo personalities who has been featured on two Bravo shows (QE and TC). In fact, the only other person to do that, I think, is Tim Gunn (Could this be a hint at an upcoming member of this list?). In addition, Ted is often an “expert” on other TV shows as well, in particular, Food Network’s Iron Chef America. When it comes to food, he knows what’s up!

Check back tomorrow for #6!

Most Fabulous Bravo Personalities: #13 - Jai Rodriguez

Today’s Fabulous #13 is Jai Rodriguez, from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

jai.jpg

Why is Jai fabulous? Seriously, can you name a nicer, more entertaining Bravo personality? Jai is the epitome of QE, and the reason why many people watch the show. He teaches “culture,” which means anything from etiquette to dance. He’s helped with proposals and he’s help reunite families. Jai’s also usually the one who gives the “big wow” of the show - free dinners, free trips, free everything. How could you NOT love Jai?

Sigh. Who else already misses the Fab Five?

Check back tomorrow for #12!

Most Fabulous Bravo Personalities: #29 - Carson Kressley

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

As part of the NaBloPoMo celebration, I’m posting my list of top 30 Most Fabulous Bravo Personalities. The points of qualification? Only one: be utterly fabulous. “Fabulous can mean intriguing, funny, hot, crazy…or all of the above. Stop back every day during November to see if you favorite star has made the list!

Today’s Fabulous #29 is Carson Kressley from one of Bravo’s oldest and most popular shows, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

29_Carson_Kressley.jpg

Why is Carson Fabulous? When you think Queer Eye, you think Carson. He’s the show’s resident style expert, but he’s oh so much more. Carson cracks me up - he’s always ready with a quick joke, usually about gay sex or penises. And who doesn’t love that? The best thing about him? On Bravo’s website, they did a Q&A with Carson, asking “What is the worst style faux pas a person can commit?” Carson replied, “Not being yourself.” Amen, brotha.

Check back tomorrow for #28!

Oh, How I’ll Miss the Fab Five

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Queer_Eye.pngWith the excitement of Project Runway and The Real Housewives of Orange County, which are both premiering rather soon, as well as the start of our Reality on Bravo contest, Project Blog, it seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle that Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is ending. And I don’t just mean for the season. It’s over. The fab five are saying goodbye to television, at least in this respect.

Tonight, the two QE episodes featured what the Fab Five to best - really making differences in other people’s lives. First, we followed the story of Adam G., who has worked tirelessly since graduating from college to start an inner-city boat building program. This programs gets kids off the street, as well as teaches them skills they can take out into the world. That’s one thing I love about Bravo - they are always first in line to help those less fortunate.

The second episode was the culmination of all things Queer Eye. Father and son were made over, and the grandfather was flown to New York from his home in Ecuador. The changes are life-altering, not just beauty make-overs. It makes me feel uplifted about the human race in general. While there is so many problems between the gay community and mainstream America, on the base level, if we all just help one another, we can change the world.

Ok, so I’m a little cheesy tonight. Give me a break. I just cried through a great episode of Queer Eye. What an awesome finale season.

10.16 Queer Eye Review

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

jai.jpgTonight’s episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was one of the best I’ve seen in the while. Although I love this show, a lot of the time I find myself thinking that some of the people will simply go back to their old ways after the Fab Five leave. They appreciate it, but it’s a “for now” change, not a life change.

Today, the show was about Ronie, a high school senior who was going to his prom and needed help getting ready for college. You could just tell that this show changed his life. They not only helped Ronie clean up his look and room, but they gave him a computer, all the college supplies he will need, a cool new wardrobe, and TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to cover an college costs he may have above and beyond the scholarship he received. Ronie didn’t come from the wealthiest household, but he learned to make the most of his situation, even without a father figure in his life. He didn’t become a child of the street. He persevered.

ted.jpgIt’s nice to see someone who deserves it really get the benefits of this show. Ronie didn’t just become a subject because his look needed help - the Fab Five helped him make his dreams come true when he literally couldn’t. Because of his family’s financial situation, he would have had a hard time in school, but he worked hard to get his life turned around and do what’s right. And for that, he was rewarded.

So, tonight reminded me why I love Bravo and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. They really are making dreams happen. Not only that, but they pimped out his prom, giving him a night that he’ll never, ever forget.

Queer Eye is Soon Coming Back

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

I’m sooooo excited for the new season of Queer Eye (although my favorite member of the Fab Five, Ted Allen, can be seen on Top Chef, Iron Chef America, and a bunch of other places). Since there’s no new episode of anything tonight, here’s a quick clip from a past episode. *QEFTSG LOOOOOOVE*
