Project Blog Week Six: Vote for Your Favorite!

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

The blogtestant entries are beginning to roll in, so that means it is time to vote for your favorite! The reader poll counts for 5 points in the overall score. First place gets 3 points, second place 2, and third place 1. Each judge also gets 5 points to distribute as they want, and the person with the overall highest score WINS! So, your votes could determine the winner this week and the blogger who gets immunity in next week’s competition.

The blogtestants:

1. Winnie, Watching the View: “Things we probably won’t see on The View this year”

Project Blog Week Six Competition

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008
project-blog-logo.jpg

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Project Runway? I won’t reveal the outcome in case you haven’t had a chance to tune in yet, but I will bring you a full recap tomorrow!

The task at hand tonight, though? IT’S TIME FOR PROJECT BLOG! In case you’ve not been staying up to date with your Reality on Bravo news, Project Blog is the blogger’s answer to Project Runway. We’ve got the best of the best in bloggers ready to go head to head in weekly competitions for the grand prize:

And as a reader here are Reality on Bravo, YOU CAN WIN TOO! Every week, Reality on Bravo is teaming up with some awesome sponsors to offer prizes for lucky readers. Anyone who leaves a comment on the voting post (which will go live on Thursday) will be automatically entered to win the super-awesome secret prize!

As for the competition, you have a say in that too! Every week after Project Runway, I’ll announce the weekly challenge and our competitors will scurry away to write some amazing posts. Read them, and on Friday, vote for your favorites. Your votes, along with the opinions of our amazing judges, Bethany (the winner of the RoB “Create Your Own Reality Show” contest) and April (an extraordinary professional writer and blogger), determine who stays and who “goes home”

And now, here’s what you really want to know - THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE:

This week, the contestants had to use unusual products - things found in a candy sore. This week, your challenge is just as sweet. Thankfully, your “products” aren’t quite as unusual! We want to see what you can do with pictures. You must use at least ONE picture in your post, but beyond that it is up to you - use 5 pictures, ten pictures, on hundred pictures…we simply want to see what you can do.

You can use words as well, but the emphasis here is drawing people in with your pictures…be they photoshopped, hilarious, heart-warming, colorful, etc. How can you use pictures to keep your readers captivated? Keep in mind that we’ll be looking at every aspect of your picture-using skills.

Oh, and make sure that you use pictures you love - it is another TWO WEEK CHALLENGE!

You have until 8 AM on Friday to post, but remember - your link will be posted here for voting as soon as you post your entry, so for maximum voting, get your entries in soon!

Bloggers, start your engines! Check back later for a complete list of posts from our blogtestants, and don’t forget to vote on your favorite! Oh, and if anyone else out there wants to play along, send me the link to your post and I’ll include it on the list - you won’t be eligible for the grand prize, but you will get a little link love.

Good luck, bloggers!

And The Week Five Winner Is…

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Project Blog is an ongoing competition that coincides with Bravo’s Project Runway. Every week, blogtestants from all over the blog-o-sphere compete in blogging challenges. Every week, the top blogger wins a special prize and, more importantly, immunity and the blogger with the lowest score is eliminated. There are prizes for readers too! And you can play along on your own blog if you’d like email me at allison.boyer-at-yahoo-dot-com with your entries, and I’ll show you a little link love AND give you an additional entry in the prize for that given week!

In this past week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to give us goals for the new year. Bloggers were judged on how well they inspired us and interested readers. You can find a list of their entries here.

You guys voted to pick the reader’s favorites, who get points, which are added to the judges’ scores to create a final score for each player. Project Blog Judges are Beth (the winner of the Reality on Bravo “Create your own Reality Show” contest), April (a freelance writer and the blogger for Life as a Christian Woman), and myself.

Imagine, if you will, that the bloggers are lined up on a virtual runway, because it’s time to announce the winner! There was some stiff competition this week, but the person with the highest score is….

Kate.jpg

Blogtestants, your entries were downright awesome. I *might* be inspired to jump on that treadmill come the new year. Might. Kate is back on top this week, though because her entry really captured us, and judging from the reader response, she did that to everyone else as well. For the first week, Winnie had a real challenger for top spot in the readership vote!

Congratulations, Kate. You and your blog, Babylune, win week five of Project Blog!! You have immunity next week and will be getting a cool prize in the mail in the next week or so.

Mark, you captured second place points. You may not have the biggest readership community, but you wooed the judges, getting points from all three of us (a rarity - we never agree!!).

NOTICE TO BLOGGERS: This is the last week immunity will be offered!!

And now for the part I don’t like…the elimination.

Sigh.

You’re all wonderful bloggers, but we do have a few comments for the bottom two before making an elimination. Congratulations Winnie and Jodie. Your scores have qualified you to remain in the competition; you may leave the virtual runway.

That leaves us with the bottom two. Kara and Sally, let’s bring out your models…er…blogs so we can make a few comments.

Both posts fulfilled the requirements quite well - you gave us goals for 2008. We just really missed that “spark” to draw us into your post, in both cases. Perhaps they were a bit too “personal”. Although writing about personal goals (rather than goals about your specific topic) was totally acceptable, we didn’t feel that connection. In other words, what in your posts would interest readers who typically come to your blog for information about your topic? Your posts have to always be relevant for long-term readers. If they are personal (which admittedly makes your blog “you”), we would have liked to see shorter, more concise posts, since not every person will be interested about the blogger’s personal life.

This was by far the toughest decision we’ve had to make. In fact, there was less than ten points difference between the top and bottom blogger!

Now here’s the hard part…this week, we’re eliminating:

Kara, Colorado Review

It makes me so sad to write that, as everyone on the judging team absolutely loves your creativity in meeting challenges. The deciding factor was formatting - we found Sally’s entry to be more “skim-able”, which is always a good trait for any blog choice!

I’d like to take this moment to say that all of the judges at Project Blog miss ALL past contestants. Here’s a little linky-love, guys! Readers, go check ‘em out to see what’s new with past friends:

Randi, Brad Pitt Wat

Cynthia, TV of the Absurd

Kara, Colorado Review

REMINDER: Project Blog is on a little breaky-break for the holidays, so no new competition tonight!

Project Blog Week Five: Vote for Your Favorite!

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Update: Voting is now closed! Project Blog’s Week Five Winner will be announced later this week, and then we’ll return with all-new competitions on January 1! Have a happy holidays, readers!

In this week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to share with us a goal for 2008. Which blogger did you find most passionate and inspiring?

The blogtestants:

1. Winnie, Watching the View: “I can almost picture it now…”
2. Kate, Babylune: “Here’s to a Slower 2008″
3. Sally, Style Fix: “Hunger Pains Drive My Goals for 2008″
4. Jodie, “Big (Dinner) Plans for 2008″
5. Kara, Colorado Review: “2008 - Bring it On!”
6. Mark, Get Incensed: “The One Habit of a Moderately Successful Person”

Blogtestants are listed above by time of post and below by their previous week’s points. They have until Friday at 8 AM to post! If you came here from one of their sites, I encourage you to check out the other entries before voting. You can vote once every 24 hours, and the polls officially close Tuesday at noon! Happy voting!

Update: Voting was soooooo close this week! After intense competion, Kate eeked out on top with 124 votes. Winnie was a close second with 116 (it was neck and neck all day yesterday!), and Jodie came in third with 38. The race is getting closer and closer every week!! Great job, bloggers, and thanks for your votes, readers!

AND DON’T FORGET: After you vote, leave a comment here telling everyone who you’re voting for and why (it can be anonymous). Use a valid email address, because leaving a comment will put you in the running to win a free astrological reading from Astrology Explored and Reality on Bravo!

Project Blog Week Five Competition

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007
project-blog-logo.jpg

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Project Runway week one?

Anyone who leaves a comment on Monday’s post or on the voting post (which will go live on Thursday) will be automatically entered to win the super-awesome prize - a astrological reading from Beth at Astrology Explored!

As for the competition, you have a say in that too! Every week after Project Runway, I’ll announce the weekly challenge and our 10 competitors will scurry away to write some amazing posts.

On this week’s episode of Project Runway, contestants created outfits for women who had achieved an amazing goal - losing a TON of weight. Some of them had lost over 100 pounds! This week, your challenge is fairly easy - write about a goal you have for 2008. The New Year is arriving quickly! Your goal can be about blogging (”I want to post 1000 entries in 2008!”), about your blog topic (”I want to meet and interview Heidi Klum in 2008!), or just about your personal life (”I want to run a triathlon in 2008!”). It can be as crazy or as realistic as you want…just show us your passion. Make us cheer for you. Give us the motivation to set our own goals for the year!

And The Week Four Winner Is…

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Project Blog is an ongoing competition that coincides with Bravo’s Project Runway. Every week, blogtestants from all over the blog-o-sphere compete in blogging challenges. Every week, the top blogger wins a special prize and, more importantly, immunity and the blogger with the lowest score is eliminated. There are prizes for readers too! And you can play along on your own blog if you’d like email me at allison.boyer-at-yahoo-dot-com with your entries, and I’ll show you a little link love AND give you an additional entry in the prize for that given week!

In this past week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to give us a post in just 50 words, and then to expand on it. Bloggers were also judged on their awesome commenting skills.

Winnie.jpg

Once again, we found it totally hard to judge this week, and their were so many awesome entries. Winnie, we can’t deny that you have the reader following, though, and that knocked you over the top this week. We were also impressed with the insightful comments you left on other sites and the linking your did in your post.

Finishing second in the judging was Kate. We really liked your style during week one - it was an unusual and interesting take on the challenge that said a lot in not a lot of words. Third Place went to Jodie this week - says one judge, “Your 50 words really packed a punch!”

Congratulations, Winnie. You and your blog, Watching the View, win week four of Project Blog!! You have immunity next week and will be getting a cool prize in the mail in the next week or so.

And now for the part I don’t like…the elimination.

Sigh.

You’re all wonderful bloggers, but we do have a few comments for the bottom two before making an elimination. Congratulations Kara and Sally. Your scores have qualified you to remain in the competition; you may leave the virtual runway.

That leaves us with the bottom two. Mark and Cynthia, let’s bring out your models…er…blogs so we can make a few comments.

Mark, we have to give you props for the video. I personally could not stop laughing. However, even though your posts are funny, sometimes we have to wonder “what’s the point”? Every post has to have a distinct purpose in order to make readers come back every day. Your post this week was a bit long with a lot of linking that felt a bit forced.

Cynthia, we did like your post idea - it was very creative. The nail in your coffin this week was not meeting the first deadline. We also would have liked to see more linking in your posts.

Now here’s the hard part…this week, we’re eliminating:

Cynthia, TV of the Absurd

It was a tough call, but in the end, we’re worried that perhaps Cynthia doesn’t have the time for this competition every week. Although we did like your idea and thought you bounced back well, it just wasn’t enough to bounce back completely.

Project Blog Week Five Prize

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Project Blog is an on-going competition at Reality on Bravo where top-notch bloggers from around the world are competing to be named the ultimate “top blogger”. We’ve got some great prizes lined up, and there’s good news - you can win too! Every Monday, I’ll announce the weekly sponsor and the prize. Make sure that you play every week - you can win some amazing things, thanks to our awesome sponsors!

Week Four’s Sponsor: Astrology Explored (www.astrologyexplored.com)
Week One’s Prize: A free reading from 451’s resident astrologer, Beth

If you’re a dedicated Real Housewives of Orange County fan, raise your hand. (*raises hand*)

You should, then, remember last season when Vicki hired an astrology to do full readings for all of the ladies. It was an epiphany for her - she realized that she wasn’t insane; it was written in the stars for her to have a certain personality.

Whether you’re a believer or not, astrology can be really, really interesting. Here at 451 Press, we have a whole blog dedicated to that art. Beth, from Astrology Watch, is one of the best bloggers we have, and although time restraints have kept her from participating in Project Blog, she has graciously donated a prize for you guys to win - a free mini-reading.

I’m pretty excited about this prize, because it is a bit different from what we have been doing. Instead of winning an item, you’re winning a deeper look at yourself. And that’s super-cool, in my opinion.

Want a chance to win this week’s prize? OF COURSE YOU DO. You can enter up to THREEtimes this week.

  • For one chance, leave a comment on this post on Reality on Bravo with one thing that you’ve learned from Beth’s site.
  • For a second chance, blog about this contest on your own site and email the link to me at allison.boyer-at-yahoo-dot-com.
  • Want a third chance? Vote for your favorite in our Project Blog competition, and leave a comment showing support! The winner will be drawn at random from all qualifying entries. You can vote once per day for your favorite (and please do), and you can comment once on this post link will go live on Thursday).

Please note that comments on other post on my site are not considered as entries.

The winner will be drawn at random from all qualifying entries, so get your comments and posts in today! (Deadline for commenting and posting is Monday, December 17 at noon EST)

Project Blog Week Four: Vote For Your Favorite!

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

The blogtestant entries are beginning to roll in, so that means it is time to vote for your favorite! The reader poll counts for 5 points in the overall score. First place gets 3 points, second place 2, and third place 1. Each judge also gets 5 points to distribute as they want, and the person with the overall highest score WINS! So, your votes could determine the winner this week and the blogger who gets immunity in next week’s competition.

In this week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to give us an update on last week’s post and show us their commenting skills. If you played along, don’t forget to send me your link!

The blogtestants:

1. Cynthia, TV of the Absurd: “Ode to the Writer’s Strike”
2. Kara, Colorado Review: “More Details on What to Do at DIA
3. Winnie, Watching the View: “The State of The View Revisited: Some Solutions”
4. Kate, Babylune: “Let Me Just Annotate That”
5. Jodie, Gossip on Sports: “The Supermodel Effect Under Investigation”
6. Sally, Style Fix: “Revealed: My New Year’s Eve Dress”
7. Mark, Get Incensed: “More on My Favorite Subject”

UPDATE: Voting is closed for the week!

AND DON’T FORGET: After you vote, leave a comment here telling everyone who you’re voting for and why (it can be anonymous). Use a valid email address, because leaving a comment will put you in the running to win bath salts from Solay prize and Reality on Bravo!

Project Blog Competition Week Four

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007
project-blog-logo.jpg

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Project Runway week one?

Anyone who leaves a comment on Monday’s post or on the voting post (which will go live on Thursday) will be automatically entered to win the super-awesome prize - bath salts from Solay Wellness, Inc.

As for the competition, you have a say in that too! Every week after Project Runway, I’ll announce the weekly challenge and our 10 competitors will scurry away to write some amazing posts.

I hope you’ve got those creative juices flowing, bloggers, because this week’s second part of the two-week challenge really is going to be a challenge. On Project Runway, contestants worked on teams to “bring back” (ie, update) three tired trends from the past. So, I’m sure you can guess what you’ll have to do - revisit/expand/rework your post from last week (in any way you want - no word counts!) and include a link back to that post. You can give us an update, use the same “style”, explain the topic further, etc, etc, etc. Just remember to link - a good blogger always has lots of links, after all.

But that’s not all. You didn’t think you were getting off that easy, did you?

On Project Runway, the designers worked on teams of three to create cohesive collections. Sometimes, their personalities clashed, but successful designers put their differences aside and found a way to collaborate.

So, in addition to linking back to your own post from last week, you must comment on THREE other contestants’ posts as well. A good blogger creates a community with commenting, so keep in mind what makes a good commenter…and what makes a good comment moderator.

Project Blog Week Four Prize

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Project Blog is an on-going competition at Reality on Bravo where top-notch bloggers from around the world are competing to be named the ultimate “top blogger”. We’ve got some great prizes lined up, and there’s good news - you can win too! Every Monday, I’ll announce the weekly sponsor and the prize. Make sure that you play every week - you can win some amazing things, thanks to our awesome sponsors!

Week Four’s Sponsor: Solay Wellness, Inc. (www.natural-salt-lamps.com)
Week One’s Prize: Himalayan Bath Salt Crystals

bathsaltscollage.jpg

Ah…who doesn’t like a nice, relaxing bath? (And come, all my male readers, admit it - whenever you’re lady’s out of town for anything, you like to relax with a bubble bath too!!! Ok, even if you don’t, I bet your wife/girlfriend/mother will LOVE this prize!)

Thanks to some awesome sponsorship by Solay Wellness, Inc., we can all de-stress a bit with some Himalayan Bath Salts. Solay’s Himalayan Bath Salt Crystals contain 84 essential minerals (more then any other salt) such as magnesium, potassium, bromide, and calcium. These minerals are all readily absorbed into the skin, giving you that calming, age-defying effect. Really guys, I’ve researched and used Himalayan Salt in the past - it’s toally good for your health.

Solay’s products are all naturally harvested from mineral-rich ocean waters that dried and crystallized 250 million years ago. This makes an especially great Christmas gift for that lady who has everything. Just add a few ounces to your bath, put on some relaxing music, pour some wine, and tune out the world. Ahhhhh…..

Have I convinced you to check out the site yet? You can buy bath salt products here (that’s the prize for the week - but believe me, you’ll want more than one), or you can peruse the other salt products they have for sale. I’m especially fond of the salt lamps, and just may have to put in an order myself. Using one of these salt lamps is like having a natural air purifier in your home.

(Note - the weekly winner for Project Blog will be receiving a set of Himalayan Salt Tealight Candle Holders - but if you want to snag them, you either have to suck up to the winner or head over to Solay’s site!)

Want a chance to win this week’s prize? OF COURSE YOU DO. You can enter up to FOUR times this week, since Week Four is part of the two-week uber challenge!

  • For one chance, leave a comment on this post on Reality on Bravo with the product from Solay’s site that you most want for Christmas (simply head to their website and browse around until you see something that catches your eye.)
  • For a second chance, blog about this contest on your own site and email the link to me at allison.boyer-at-yahoo-dot-com.
  • Want a third and fourth chance? Vote for your favorite in our Project Blog competition, and leave a comment showing support! The winner will be drawn at random from all qualifying entries. You can vote once per day for your favorite (and please do), and you can comment ONCE PER WEEK (so, twice) to be considered as entered into this drawing - once on this post (comments close on Wednesday night) and once on Thursday’s post (this link will go live on Thursday morning).

Please note that comments on other post on my site are not considered as entries.

The winner will be drawn at random from all qualifying entries, so get your comments and posts in today! (Deadline for commenting and posting is Monday, December 10 at noon EST)

Project Blog Competition Week Three

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007
project-blog-logo.jpg

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Project Runway week one?

This week is the first in a two-part series, so anyone who leaves a comment on this post or on the voting post will be automatically entered to win the super-awesome prize next week.

As for the competition, you have a say in that too! Every week after Project Runway, I’ll announce the weekly challenge and our 10 competitors will scurry away to write some amazing posts.

On Project Runway, the contestants had to design menswear and surprise, surprise, most of them had no clue what they were doing. It came down to one thing - making it work with styling. In order to survive the week, the designers had to style their models to make up for what they were lacking. Some used safety pins because they didn’t have time to hem. Some used fabric in the place of shirts they didn’t have time to make. Some relied on hair and accessories.

Your competition is simple - show us your style! This week, you can write a post on anything you want - absolutely anything. Just write us a post for your blog. The catch? You can only have 50 words. Exactly 50 words, actually (no more, no less). We want to see how you “style” your post to make the most of what you do have, even if you don’t have a lot.

You have until 8 AM on Friday to post, but remember - your link will be posted here for voting as soon as you post your entry, so for maximum voting, get your entries in soon!

And, as I’ve mentioned, this is the first part in a two-week challenge. That means that no one is going home on Tuesday BUT your scores from both weeks will be added together. So, if you want to win it, you have to do well on both posts!

Project Blog Week Two: Vote For Your Favorite!

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Update: Readers keep voting and contestants keep promoting - but comments to win the cookbook prize are now closed. This week will be week one in an excited two-week challenge, so stay tuned and on Thursday you can begin commenting again to win the surprise prize!

In this week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to give us a post reflects on a previous post they’ve written. If you played along, don’t forget to send me your link!

The blogtestants:

1. Randi, Brad Pitt Watch: “A Blast from the Past for Project Blog”
2. Kate, Babylune: “Has Sex Really Left the City?”
3. Winnie, Watching The View: “Project Blog: Three Ways Rosie O’Donnell Changed The View”
4. Sally, Style Fix: “Because I Slacked on My Promise: A Total ANTM Recall”
5. Kara, Colorado Review: “Weather Update: We’ve Got Clouds
6. Jodie, Gossip on Sports: “Project Blog Week Two Challenge”
7. Cynthia, TV of the Absurd: “Supernatural Origins: Take Two”
8. Mark, Get Incensed: “We’re Still Not Friends”

Blogtestants are listed above by time of post and below by their previous week’s points. They have until Saturday at 8 AM to post! If you came here from one of their sites, I encourage you to check out the other entries before voting. You can vote once every 24 hours, and the polls officially close Tuesday at noon! Happy voting!

Voting is now closed for this week! Here are the results of the reader vote. Check back later today to see the overall results and the weekly winner!

Kate rocked the reader vote this week - sex really does sell. She got first place points with 105 votes (37% of the votes).

Winnie wasn’t far behind 97 votes (34% of the vote), and Sally won third place points with 44 votes (15% of the vote).

Everyone else was also on the board with points as well. Jodie and Randi were tied with 12 each (4% of the vote each). Bringing up the end were Cynthia with 7 votes, Mark with 6 votes, and Kara with 5 votes.

AND DON’T FORGET: After you vote, leave a comment here telling everyone who you’re voting for and why (it can be anonymous). Use a valid email address, because leaving a comment will put you in the running to win an Cookbook! Project Blog Competition Week Two

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007
project-blog-logo.jpg

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Project Runway week one?

Head over to this post to read about this week’s giveaway, cookbooks from Food History!

As for the competition, you have a say in that too! Every week after Project Runway, I’ll announce the weekly challenge and our 10 competitors will scurry away to write some amazing posts. Read them, and on Friday, vote for your favorites. Your votes, along with the opinions of our amazing judges, Bethany (the winner of the RoB “Create Your Own Reality Show” contest) and April (an extraordinary professional writer and blogger) determine who stays and who “goes home”

And now, here’s what you really want to know - THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE:

On Project Runway, contestants were asked to create an outfit with a partner for fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker’s newest line, Bitten. This week, blogtestants, you have to write with a partner too - yourself.

That’s right, I want to see your leadership skills, but to make it fair, YOU are the one you’ll be leading.

Pick a post from the past - any post will do - and use that as your inspiration for a new post. You can give us an update on a past news story, revisit a topic, or give further opinion on a factual post. Or hey, do something else - it’s all up to you! Just remember, the goal is to use your past post as inspiration, and you MUST include a link to the past story in your new post. (It can be a post from yesterday or a post from a year ago…timing is not important, any post you choose is fine!)

Because tomorrow is Thanksgiving, there will be additional time to complete this challenge. Instead of the deadline being 8 AM Friday, the deadline will be 8 AM Saturday, but remember - your link will be posted here for voting as soon as you post your entry, so for maximum voting, get your entries in soon!

Bloggers, start your engines! Check back on Friday for a complete list of posts from our blogtestants, and don’t forget to vote on your favorite! Oh, and if anyone else out there wants to play along, send me the link to your post and I’ll include it on the list - you won’t be eligible for the grand prize, but you will get a little link love.

Good luck, bloggers!

And the Week One Winner Is…

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Project Blog is an ongoing competition that coincides with Bravo’s Project Runway. Every week, blogtestants from all over the blog-o-sphere compete in blogging challenges. Every week, the top blogger wins a special prize and, more importantly, immunity and the blogger with the lowest score is eliminated. There are prizes for readers too! Leave a comment to enter for the week two prize here. And you can play along on your own blog if you’d like email me at allison.boyer-at-yahoo-dot-com with your entries, and I’ll show you a little link love AND give you an additional entry in the prize for that given week!

In this past week’s challenge, blogtestants were asked to give us a post that sums up themselves, their blog, and why they write.

Kate.jpg

Winnie, we thought it was great that you’ve built such a community on your blog - you definitely know what they like to read, and that’s a very, very good thing for any blogger! Jodie, your entry was smart, sassy, and fun to read.

It was a tough call between you three, but ultimately Kate won because she really showed us our heart and soul in this blog post. Says one judge, “You took your blog and made me read past the words and the stories to the point of feeling like I know you.”

On top of that, you shined as a blogger by doing three things that many of the other bloggers didn’t do. First, you linked. I mean, you LINKED. Someone who doesn’t read your blog had no trouble understanding what you were talking about because you linked back to every story you references. Second, you used a picture. Pictures are the life of blogs - they draw readers in even if those readers are not initially interested in your site.

And third? You commented. Everywhere. On every competitor blog we read, you were there, leaving comments. Without the blogger comments on others’ site the blog dies. This week was all about showin’ us what ya got…and you did! So congratulations, Kate. You and your blog, Babylune, win week one of Project Blog!!

And now for the part I don’t like…the elimination.

Sigh.

You’re all wonderful bloggers, but we do have a few comments for the bottom two before making an elimination. Congratulations Winnie, Jodie, Mark, Kara, and Sally. Your scores have qualified you to remain in the competition> you may leave the virtual runway.

That leaves us with the bottom two. Cynthia and Randi, let’s bring out your models…er…blogs so we can make a few comments.

Cynthia, we thought your entry “The Five TV Shows that Changed My Life” was great from the perspective of blogging - you included some fun pictures and lists are always GREAT to keep reader interested. However, that’s where it ended. You didn’t really zone in and focus on the challenge - to tell why your blog exists. These shows changes your life, but why should that be important to us? What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? Says one judge, “I was brought to the sale, but not sold.” Says another, “I really liked the effort, but there was a missing element that connected TV changing your life to why you blog about it.”

Randi, we liked that you told us the complete story of why you blog on Brad Pitt Watch. We understand why you love Brad Pitt and we got the connection as to why you blog about him and even why you blog with 451 Press. But here, there was no wow factor. Says one judge, “I kind of felt like you were talking down to me. A lot more readers than you realize may live in rural areas where there isn’t a Starbucks or Target or Walmart. Your explanation as to why you blog seemed generic. What blogger doesn’t have something inside that they’d like to say?”

Now here’s the hard part…this week, we’re eliminating:

No one.

You lucky ducks. hehe.

In light of Zem and Dana dropping out of the competition, we’ve decided to let you all stay! To everyone, though (not just the lowest scorers) this is your one pass. Next week there WILL be an elimination, and anything can happen, so do your best at the challenges!
