Real Housewives Season Finally Recap

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Here it is–the recap you’ve all been waiting for and my opinions on the matter! Last night was the series finally of the RHOC and it will be sorely missing my household! I resisted at first (it seemed like SUCH a dumb idea for a tv show) but I got hooked, and now I feel like the OC ladies are people I really know. Alright, so here is what happened:

Tammy, as it always seems to be, was not in the episode all that much. She may not be my favorite housewife, but I’m guess that it means she’s pretty drama-free. They did show her playing with her son, and I have to say, both her and Duff are great parents. Apparently, Duff gets the kid 50% of the time, which is really odd for a man, and I think that’s just great. Tammy’s big claim to fame this episode was brining a date to Vicki’s BBQ, and the credits after the show said that she is currently still dating that man. They did show her girls for awhile, and it seems as though Megan is back home, having broken up with Roman, the pit bull breeder. Good thing she has his company logo tattooed across her hip! Regardless of her bad ink choices, I do like Megan. She’s not afraid to speak her mind!

Did anyone else feel really, really badly for Jo last night? She had a rough episode! She and Slade couldn’t stop fighting, so they went to couple’s counseling (which I actually thought was funny…shouldn’t you go to counseling AFTER you are married). Slade broke up with her there, in front of the counselor and cameras. Real smooth. It was the right choice, I think, though. I mean, they didn’t seem to have a lot in common in their lives. My boyfriend is my best friend, and that’s how I believe all couples should be to some extent. Her and Slade weren’t there anymore. What is really messed up, however, is that four days later, Slade brought a date to the BBQ where he knew Jo would be. That was a low blow. She really did look like a tramp, too, although I bet she’s actually a very nice girl and just was trying to look her best in front of what she knew would be a bunch of rich OC ladies. We left off with Jo talking to both Lauri and Shane about it. Man, I hope those two hooked up. You know they wanted to…

In this episode, Lauri proved to everyone that she may not be mom of the year, but it is not for lack of trying. I think she has her priorities a tad bit messed up, because she seems to win over her kids by being a friend and giving them things. For Sofie’s ninth birthday, Lauri gave her a cell phone and a horse. The kid is NINE. My god. The horse…ok, I can see her trying to give her something that will be a lifetime gift and give her responsibility, but a cell phone? Give me a break! Her daughter, Ashley, spent the whole episode being pissy about the idea of sharing Lauri’s townhouse with her brother. I’m not a fan of Ashley at all, but according to the ending of the show, Ashley is now paying rent and utilities at the townhouse, so maybe she’s growing up a little. It’s about time.

Jeana wasn’t the star of this final episode, but she did talk to Vicki about how her and her husband, Matt, are growing apart. I wish Jeana all the best, and I think that includes a divorce…or at least some couple’s counseling. I’m glad she recognizes the problem and hope she will have the strength to do something about it, although currently, that does not seem to be the case. Vicki, however, is seeming to understand Jeana’s problem and is working on her own marriage. Her husband is as well. He planned a romantic getaway for the two of them, and later they threw the BBQ together for all of their friends. Of all of the housewives, it’s no secret that I like Vicki the most, and her commitment to her family makes me love her even more.

Next week, the RHOC ladies will be getting together for a reunion special with Andy Cohen, and I’m excited to see what is going on in their lives since the show has come to an end.

Is Smiley Smirking?

Monday, March 12th, 2007

joandslade.jpg Looks like Slade Smiley, Jo De La Rosa’s boyfriend on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Orange county, doesn’t have a friendly smile on his face–it’s more of a smirk. He recently expressed his discontent with Bravo’s “rules” regarding who the cast members could talk to. Bravo says that these rules are simply to keep the show’s plot a secret, but Smiley isn’t about to miss out on any business opportunities. After all, Bravo needs Smiley and gang more than they need Bravo.

Smiley has produced De La Rosa’s first record, as seen on the show, but behind the scenes he has also joined her on TV talk shows, red carpets and promotional events not allowed by Bravo.

He said publicists called to “reprimand” him. And he spoke to the Los Angeles Times without a Bravo representative — really not allowed.

“They hate the fact we’ve figured how to take exposure from the show and turn it into something,” said Smiley, who argues that the appearances that he and De La Rosa make are not for press or promotion. “We’re about making personal relationships in the industry. It comes across when we meet people,” he said. “We’re not hungry for it. We’re not pushing too hard.”

Top Design: Who’s in It to Win It?

Friday, March 9th, 2007

It can be a little confusing to see who’s got the god on Top Design, so I’ve come up with a little way to chart their progress. Here’s the last few episodes, which total points at the end. I gave each designed 10 points for a win, 1 point for making it through the episode without being in the bottom, and -5 points for being in the bottom. Click on the thumbnail to see the chart. Who’s in it to win it?

UntitledTop_Design.jpg

So far, it looks like Andrea is the “sleeper,” banking two wins AND no bottoms. What do you guys thing–who’s your favorite to win Top Design?

Goodbye Ryan

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Socio-political, my ass.

On last night’s episode of Top Design, Ryan was the designer asked to leave. During the white room judging, he said that he would have never taken on this assignment and that his choice would have been to throw away a lot of the clients’ belongings and make a socio-political statement. (huh? getting rid of crap does not constitute a socio-political statement…).

The judges have had poor Ryan on the chopping block for weeks now, so everyone pretty much agreed that it was his time to go…even Ryan himself. During the exit interview, he said,

“At this point, I’m happy with tipping my hat and walking away from things. No regrets.”

Personally, I wish Ryan would not have been made into some kind of evil underdog. I think that he had a lot to bring to the table that no one really recognized or encouraged. That’s a real shame.

In other news, the episode itself was very revealing about some of the characters:

Andrea is one of my favorites to win. She treats everything professionally and with full effort.

Goil is the most good-hearted person I have ever seen on a reality show. He’s in it to win, but without stepping on other people to get there.

Michael places blame on others a lot. Sometimes he’s justified in doing so, but he comes off as being whine-y all the time.

Matt needs to be more confident. Every interview with him is like watching a timid mouse afraid of going home.

Erik simply needs to be in the store more. I always forget that he’s a contestant! If this show was based on viewer votes, he would be gone already, simple because he hasn’t done anything memorable since the pirate ship.

Lastly, Carissa is a pain in the ass, loud mouth. I really do believe that she was working her hardest during this last event, but she’s a student and pretty full of herself. She always has to be heard, even when someone else is speaking. I just feel like punching her, bc she gets so annoying. However, I wonder how much of that is due to creative editing…

Real Housewives Recap 3/6

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Last night, I think that the overall theme for the Real Housewives of Orange County was “Get real.” Sometimes it amazes me how these ladies and their kids don’t live in the real world at all. They seem to have no concept of money or responsibility sometimes! None! In any case, here’s the recap:

The show starts with Vicki going to surprise her son Michael at college. Let’s think about this for a moment, shall we? It is the weekend. At a party school. He lives in what looks like a frat house. His mom is going to show up out of the blue. Put all of that together folks–this is not going to be pretty. Vicki shows up, beer in tow (for her underage son AHEM!) and Michael’s mouth just drops. She walks in yelling “Party!!!” and all of his friends are, of course, happy to see her, because she’s got big boobs. Not gonna lie. Hugs all around for a feel of them. Anyway, poor Michael is NOT happy to see her, but tries to be nice. For a nice, Vicki cries in the bathroom, then comes out to join the party. Not sure how much alcy she has, but she does promise Michael a new car if he gets a 3.5 and does a keg stand. As naive as she is, I can’t help but love that lady, haha. But come on, get real. No son wants his mom at a frat party.

Jo is now living in LA and seems to be having the time of her life. First she a Slade meet with a producer about her song. They play the final track, and it is a horribly digitized version of her voice. Then she invited the Cato ladies down to go shoe shopping with her. They show the prices of the shows as they try them on–enough to pay my rent for a few months–but what really gets me is that Jo doesn’t hold back, and she’s the one person who should be on a budget. She even admits that herself…after buying boots that cost almost $1500. Get real, Jo. Your singing career is going nowhere and you need to start spending your money wisely if you want to truly be independent from Slade.

My least favorite housewife, Tammy, wasn’t in this episode much, but she did have lunch with Duff to discuss some things about Rily, their son. Duff once again made the pitch that what they had was perfect and they should be together. He even tried to talk her into hopping a plane to Vegas right then and there. Honestly, I don’t know what he sees in Tammy. I thinks she likes the attention he gives her. In any case, she’s started dating a new guy, and Duff is not happy. Get real, Duff. Tammy is not coming back to you–and you’re better for it.

Poor Jeana. This episode was her birthday, and she went out to eat with Vicki and Don and some other friends (I love Don btw…he’s great!). Long story short, Matt didn’t show up. It hit her hard that her husband would rather be working than spending time with her. It was really a shame. Later in the show, she did a radio interview and talked about how she was playmate of the year in 1980 and what she’s been dong since then. Callers asked all sorts of questions to get advice about love and relationships, and she admitted that her and her husband sleep in different beds. Get real, Jeana. If you’re that miserable, its time to talk about a divorce, even if you don’t like the idea.

Ashley is, thank goodness, keeping the townhouse a little cleaner, but Lauri is still considering selling the place. Apparently, the rule was that Ashley could live there rent free if she was either working full time and pitching in with the expenses or going to school. Lauri admitted that it costs $5000 to keep up the house every month. Ashley chose to enroll in school (surprise, surprise), but is only taking a short 8 week ceramics class. Um…that really doesn’t count…Lauri said that maybe she should sell the house, and Ashley made it seem like her mom was only doing it because she was greed. Grow up and get real. You are 21 years old and need to have some responsibility. I hope Lauri kicks her to the curb.

The real drama of the night, however, surrounded the new Aqua Angels or whatever the hell you want to call them. Apparently Tammy’s ex, Lou, is starting a new business venture selling energy drinks. He’s employing a bunch of the Cato girls–including Kara, Taylor, and Ashley, to be “aqua angels” and promote the drink during the weekend at night clubs, bars, and other places. Two of the girls already got into a cat fight. Kara seems to just be having fun, but Ashley honestly thinks that this will be a career.

Get real, aqua whatevers. Lou just likes seeing young girls in tight dresses.

There are still a few days left to vote in the RHOC favorite housewives poll and to sign up for the Reality on Bravo newsletter, so you don’t miss out on the latest RHOC news and prizes!

Mychael Knight on Rip the Runway

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

If you’re anything like me, you just can’t get enough of Project Runway, even if Bravo shows the same episodes over and over and over again. Season three, my personal favorites were Uli and Jeffrey, but another one of the top contenders was Mychael Knight (although, at that point he still spelled his name Michael).

Out of everyone on PR, Mychael is def the one making a name for himself–literally, I guess since he found that a y would do his name more justice than an i…but I digress…

In any case, Mychael is doing a line for Starbucks, and late this month will be a part of Rip the Runway, a BET fashion show set to air March 14th at 10 PM (set your TiVo so you can see Top Design at the same time!). Chris Brown and Ciara will be hosting and other design lines will include Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat, Nelly’s Apple Bottom, Amaya Swimwear, and Nike’s Brand Jordan. Mark your calenders!

No Top Design

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Was anyone else sad and a bit surprised that Top Design was a repeat tonight? I don’t know why, but I missed that fact during the week and was all excited to see a new episode.

Since it was a repeat again, let me take this chance to make my predictions for top three:

1. Goil
2. Andrea
3. Matt

At least, I think those are the ones deserving of top three spots. If they cut it down to just two, Goil and Andrea. My guess is that they’ll have to do an entire house or something crazy like that.

And who else thinks it’s funny that Goil introduces himself by saying “Hi, I’m Goil, like Gargoyle.” He’s such a sweetheart!

About Reality on Bravo

Who will pack their knives and go this week? Will Jackie Warner ever break up with Mimi? Who is in and who is "auf"? Is Lauri Waring fighting with Jo Del La Rosa? Will James Lipton interview your favorite star next?
