RHOC, Season 3

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Well, it looks like there will be a third season of the Real Housewives of Orange County, but the original ladies look like they’re done with the show. Bravo has announced open casting calls for 5 new families living in the OC who would be willing to open up their lives for the camera.

The first casting open call will be at the Braemar Country Club in Tarzana from noon to 4 PM TOMORROW (Sat, March 31) and the second will be at the same time in one week (Sat, April 7). No location has been announced for the second date.

Applicants must be ready to “tell their story” at the casting call. To be considered, you must live in Calabasas or Orange County, and be dating, engaged, married, divorced, or remarried (aka, if you’re single, you don’t qualify as a “wife”). Their preference is for women aged 30-45 with active children over the age of 13 and “big personalities.”

You can call 818-557-1198 for more information or email housewives@evolutionusa.com! You can also apply online here.

A Pictorial Summary of Last Night’s Top Design

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Top Design last night was full of drama, tears, complains, and bad hair, as usual. Here’s a recap of the show, through pictures.

“I am so distressed about absolutely everything regarding this show. I want to cry.”

“I will be your guest judge. I was Fred Flintstone’s wife in a past life. You will now all make rooms according to the four elements.”

“I got the PERFECT element for me, because it matches my sign! And I have a wife and kids.”

“Insert bitchy comments here, while I smile and pretend I love everyone and am NOT a bitch.”

“AHHHHH! I may spontaneously combust at ANY moment. Which would be perfect for my room of fire!”

“If I hear Andrea whine one more time about getting “earth” as her element, I’m going to cut off my ears. Or my thumb.”

“Stupid Matt with his stupid easy element. Stupid element of earth. Stupid.”

“Everyone stands between me and prize. I will kill them all one by one.”

“Oh God, I just looked in the mirror.”

“Yay, I finally won an individual challenge. And I have a wife and kids.”

“But I put my heart into every room! Oh well, at least Todd loves me.”

Interview with Jo De La Rosa!

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

jo2.jpgCan’t get enough of Jo De La Rosa? Star Recently featured an interview with the real housewife, who dishes about her new LA life, sining career, relationship with Shane Keough, fall out with JJ, singing career, and the possibility of a third season of the Real Housewives of Orange County.

Jo De La Rosa: I don’t think of myself as someone people love to hate. I get along with everyone. I’ve always gotten along with guys and girls. I’ve never thought of myself as that way. I think of myself as outgoing and I try to live by the idea of treat others as you want to be treated. Unless they are Slade Smiley then that goes out the window with him. I was busy compromising in that relationship… I forgot how to be respectful in an argument because I was too busy trying to argue my own point. Sometimes you say hurtful things to the people you love most and you are regretful. I do love him with all my heart…read more here!

Bravo’s Project Runway is a Winner

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

We all know how great Project Runway is, but it’s nice to see them getting some awards to justify the fan base. GLAAD recently awarded the show with “Outstanding Reality Programing.” According to reports,

Bravo’s “Project Runway” style guru Tim Gunn accepted the award for the series and said, “I don’t know whether people realize the seminal work of Bravo and, by definition Bravo’s support of the LGBT community. Beginning with ‘Queer Eye’ and transcending to ‘Project Runway’ and ‘Work Out,’ Bravo’s content dispels myths, challenges stereotypes and positions LGBT issues thoughtfully and respectfully. Winning this award is quite possibly my proudest moment.”

Added Bravo President Lauren Zalaznick, “This GLAAD award recognizes Bravo’s commitment to present our diverse and eclectic view of the world through the creativity of our programming.” Read more

Workout and Queer Eye were also nomination.

Celebrity Pic-O-Rama

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I don’t know about you, but I love seeing pictures of my favorite Bravo reality stars in the news or at special events. Here’s some recent ones–has your favorite celeb been out and about lately?

jackie.jpgJackie Warner, from Bravo’s Workout was recently spotted at the 18th annual GLAAD Media Awards Ceremony. Here she is on the red carpet. The shoes? Love, love, love. I’m not the biggest fan of girls in red carpet suits, regardless of sexual orientation, by this one really shows off her fab body, so it was a good pick if you ask me!

rebecca.jpgWorkout babe Rebecca Cardonwas also on hand for the GLAAD Awards. Orange…not really her color. I mean, it’s hard to make someone that gorgeous look bad, but I can’t help but think how much nicer a blue/teal color would look on her! Like I said, though, it’s hard to make someone that beautiful look bad. She could wear a shower curtain and still be pretty.

jo_and_slade.jpgOk, let’s switch gears for a moment and check out the fabulous fashionista of Orange County, Jo De La Rosa, pictured here with Slade Smiley on March 21 at the Lisa Kline Beverly Hills Boutique Celebration, hosted by Samanta Harris and Rachel Pally. I love how Jo is rocking the all-black look, but c’mon. A scarf? In Beverly Hills? Are you Jared Leto? I guess it was a pretty casual event, because Slade is wearing jeans. And not even nice ones at that. Overall, I was disappointed in the couple–they’re usually looking hotter than this whenever they’re being photographed!

lipton_and_gang.jpg Looks like March 21 was a busy day for lots of people. Here’s a photo of Inside the Actor’s Studio’s James Lipton from that night at the Spring Into the Season with Gotham Magazine and Mariska Hargitay event. He might not be young. He might not be tall. He might not have any hair on the top of his head…but James Lipton dresses very well, in my opinion.

jai.jpgLast but not least, here’s a recent picture of Jai Rodriguez, from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, at the Workout Season 2 Premier. There’s no need for a lengthy critique of his outfit–Jai always looks great. I miss Queer Eye!

Workout!

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Ok, Ok, I know I’ve been neglecting to cover this show, but I was caught up with missing the RHOC. Workout isn’t my favorite Bravo reality show, but we’ll see if it grows on me as time goes on. In any case, here are some great pictures from the Season 2 premier, which the cast watched together, along with a number of prominent members from the gay and lesbian community.

The Real Housewives of Orange County Store

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

The show may be over, but if you love the Real Housewives of Orange County as much as I do, then you’ll be glad to know that the ladies have lots of new stuff planned for the future. Again, no word if there will be a RHOC3, but the ladies (mostly Jeana, Vicki, and Lauri from what I can see) have opened The Real OC Brand, and online store selling some of the great stuff you’ve seen on the show. The prices are a little high…ok, a lot high…but if you have the extra cash to spend or just want to see what the Real housewives are wearing, check them out.

Michael Gone on Top Design

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

On Last night’s episode of Top Design, Michael was the latered decorator, which I kind of expected. I like the kid, but he and Carisa are definitely the weakest links at this point.

The designers were asked to create a chef’s table for Tom Colicchio, the head judge of Top Chef. The results were varied, but in the end, Andrea cam out on tip. Matt was definitely a surprise. Actually, he’s been doing well, but for some reason I keep forgetting about how sheek his rooms always look. No matter what Carisa says, I do feel like his vision came through most in the Bacardi Limon challenge, and he deserved that win.

Does anyone else think that Goil is beginning to get a little scary? He needs to take some calming pills I think! However, I do believe, like the judges, that he has that awesome room inside of him somewhere. If only he would paint the walls a solid color and just make something original–every single room he does, you walk into it and say “Oh, this is Goil.” It’s good to have an impressive print on a room, but I’m sick of the white and funky.

Jo De La Rosa at Fashion Week

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

jo.jpgThe Real Housewives of Orange County’s Jo De La Rosa was spotted on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Fall 2007 L.A. Fashion Week at Smashboz Studios.
Interestingly enough, she had her own arm candy at this event–an unnamed guest (sister? friend?) and jo2.jpgSlade Smiley was nowhere to be found. All signs point to “they really are broken up,” but I’m keeping my eye on things…

In any case, Jo looks smoking, but a bit to casual for my tastes for fashion week.

Make sure you get all the latest Jo De La Rosa (and Bravo) news by subscribing to the feed for this site.

You can also make sure that the ever-popular RoB newsletter finds its way to your email every month by sending my your email address–click on the contact button to the right and type “sign me up!” in the message box! We’re looking for an April Fan of the Month–could it be you??

Goodbye, RHOC

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Tonight on Bravo, Watch What’s Happening’s Andy Cohen hosted the lovely ladies of the Real Housewives of Orange County on a talk show to wrap up the season. If you didn’t catch the show, I’m sure Bravo will be replaying it again and again, but here are some highlights:

~All of the ladies have had boob jobs. Vicki Gunvalson actually had her breasts reduced and Jo Del La Rosa is having one next month. Many of the ladies also admitting to having other cosmetic procedures done.

~Lauri Waring’s cheeks are real. She and George are getting married…soon. They still haven’t announced a date.

~Jo and her ex-boyfriend, Slade Smiley, are still broken up. She and Shane Keough are both denying being anything more than party friends. Jo says that she’s single.

~Tammy Knickerbocker fielded some questions about her and Duff. They originally broke up because HE was the one who didn’t want to commit to marraige. His recent proposals have come two years later, which is why Tammy has decided to move on.

~Jeana Keough and her husband, Matt, are still living together, but its up in the air right now.

~Kara (Jeana’s daughter) and Brianna (Vicki’s daughter) are no longer in the OC Angels or Aqua Angels, whatever you want to call them, because they thought that the modeling they were being asked to do was uncomfortable. Ashley (Lauri’s daughter) is doing this job full time and now pays some of the bills at the townhouse.

~All of the ladies are republican.

And honestly, the overlying theme of this show was that these mom really do love their kids. Many people, myself included, like to criticize, but these are real ladies with real families, and they are doing what they think is best for their children.

I’m going to miss the show–I hope it comes back for a third season, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m sure it’s really hard to have your entire life filmed, so I don’t know if they OC ladies will want to do another season.

I Miss You Tom

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

I like Top Design and all, but I think most people hear me when I say “I miss Top Chef!” It’s just not the same.

Well, this week, we get a little taste of our good ol’ TC–Chef Tom Colicchio is acting as Top Design’s guest judge. He makes the show on Top Chef if you ask me, so I’m glad he’d coming on Top Design to liven things up a bit. Maybe he can teach the judges how to hold an interesting and non-whiney judges table?

(Gar)Drama Queen?

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

I know I promise you all a Top Design recap/review on Friday, but I snowed myself in at a friend’s place and had limited net access!

The episode centered on Goil…a lot. I know, I know, there’s like, a cult fan following for the kid, but my goodness! Can we say drama queen!?!? I agree that no one was listening to his ideas and I will even go so far as to say that Andrea and Erik did not show him much respect. However, he didn’t fight to make his voice heard and he focus so much on the team that he didn’t set himself out as anything but a follower. I truly believe that Goil should have gone home. I thought he was going when that team lost. The kid is a sweetheart, but he needs to stop being a doormat and a perfectionist.

In other news, Carisa is still around. Ugh. Once again, this episode would have been better without her in it. Good lord. I can’t believe she took entire credit for that design. If she would have won, I think Michael would have spontaneously combusted!

Watch What’s Happening!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Tim Gunn_1.jpgMy question was just asked on this week’s episode of “What What’s Happening!!!” How exciting.

I asked: “What designer to you think is best at “making it work”?

Tim Gunn: “I dunno, Allison, the jury’s out on that one.” and they went on to say that he loved Erik’s work.

SWEEEEEET Tim Gunn answered me by name!

You can see the episode on www.bravotv.com, although after they show it live its a few hours before they put it back up again to watch. My question was asked near the very beginning.

Full recap/review of Top Design tomorrow, along with the RoB newsletter, which is going out by email tomorrow evening. If you haven’t subscribed already, use the contact me button to the right to send me your email address and you’ll be put on the mailing list…and believe me, if you’re a Bravo fan, you don’t want to miss out!
